You may have noticed I have a fascination with trees. Their shapes, their wrinkles, and their characters. When I look at them I see so much life, in and around them. Birds, insects, and people all benefit from their wonderful existence.
In my rainbow tree series, I have tried to bring that to life by elevating their colours, exaggerating their shapes, and focusing on their inner beauty.
Watercolour is the perfect medium to express this beauty. I allow the paint and the paper to dictate the flow of the trees. The leaves are secondary, the heart and soul is in the twists and turns of the trunks, and in the way they are grounded.
The rainbow trees are a joy to paint.
