Bottle trees for me have always been exotic, objects of awe and beauty.
One particular tree was in a park near where I grew up. It has been the inspiration for many of my bottle tree paintings. I have portrayed it many times, experimenting with pencil, charcoal, pastel, and paint on canvas paper and cardboard.
I felt it was out of place and have portrayed in it a place with space and room to grow – the place I would go to in my imagination as I played in and around this wondrous tree.
You could call it my muse.
